Lego League Champions!
Our Lego League Team had huge success at their Regional Tournament.
On Tuesday 21st March, Longthorpe School Lego League Team took part in a FIRST LEGO© League Regional Tournament at Whirlpool Peterborough. FIRST LEGO© League is a global STEM challenge where teams of young people (aged 9-16 years) work together to explore a given topic and design, build and program an autonomous LEGO© robot to solve a series of missions. The challenge involves a robot game and a research project, and students need to demonstrate the FIRST LEGO© League Core Values throughout their work.
The school team did extremely well, scoring highly in every category, and were thrilled to be presented with the overall winning trophy for the Peterborough tournament! They will be moving on to the National (England and Wales) tournament, taking place in 4 weeks' time.
The team also brought home the trophy for the robot Knock-Out games, which took place before the awards ceremony.
The judges were incredibly impressed with the Longthorpe Team and their commitment to the FIRST LEGO© League Core Values. They even said that they would be surprised if they did not see the Longthorpe innovation project out in the world in five years' time!
A huge congratulations to the Lego League Team, and best of luck for the National Finals!
