Pupil & Sports Premium

Pupil PREMIUM & Recovery premium

The Pupil Premium is a government initiative that funds extra money targeted at pupils from socio-economically deprived backgrounds, which research shows underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers. The premium is provided in order to support these pupils in reaching their full learning potential.

The government has used pupil's entitled to Free School Meals (FSM), or Looked After Children (LAC) or from Armed Service families as indicators for deprivation and has deployed a fixed amount of money to schools per annum based on the number of pupils eligible in each category. Schools are able to claim pupil premium retrospectively over five years (LAC) and six years (FSM) periods.

Sports Premium

The government provides funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sports in primary schools. We plan to use our proportion of this money in a variety of ways in order to improve the quality and range of PE and school sport within our school.

At Longthorpe Primary School we are committed to supporting and encouraging children across the whole curriculum and we passionately believe sport can give children the drive, determination and resilience they need to succeed.
