SEN & Disability

Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) provision is additional to or different from that made generally for other children of the same age. It may take the form of additional support within a setting or involvement of specialist learning support services.

At Longthorpe Primary School, we aim to work in partnership with families to meet the needs of every child and believes that that all pupils should be respected and valued. We work hard to ensure that all pupils:

  • Have access to a wide and balanced curriculum that is designed to meet individual needs
  • Have equal access to resources, provision and interventions as needed
  • Can learn and make progress according to their individual abilities
  • Are assessed using appropriate assessment tools and guidelines

Admissions Arrangements

The admissions arrangements for all pupils is the same including children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.  For more information please see our admissions page

Once a pupil with SEND is accepted on the school roll, the SENDCO and class teacher will work alongside the parents and to support their transition into school as soon as possible.  this may include liasing with external agencies and undertaking risk assessments to establish needs.

All teachers are teachers of SEND pupils and as such provide quality teaching. The school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is responsible for the management of identified pupils with SEND.
